Question 1 of 3

Should you try and do the meta tags on pages and products in Shopify yourself?

A

Of course you should. In essence, it is the same as most other website platforms, just the set up to get to your meta tags is slightly different.

B

No, Shopify is a very complicated and delicate platform and should only be touched by Shopify experts.

C

No, there is no need to fix your meta tags as Shopify doesn't have a meta tag section.

Question 2 of 3

Why does Shopify allow up to 320 characters in their description tag where most others allow 160 characters before the ‘warning bells’ go off that you have gone over?

A

The 320 character limit was upped by Google a few years ago from 160 characters. It decided it was going to show up to 320 characters of your description tag in the search results. A few months later, it changed its mind and went back to 160 characters. Shopify for whatever reason has not reflected that change on their platform.

B

Shopify knows better than any other content management platform and is staying ahead of the pack.

C

Shopify has a secret back channel to Google and has been told by Google they are going to go back to 320 characters in the near future.

Question 3 of 3

Does Google ever show more than the usual 160 characters in the search results?

A

No way Jose!! Google is a stickler for its own rules and will never break them.

B

It does sometimes but only when it is justified. They sometimes no doubt feel the results warrant a bit more text for the user to understand that result.

C

What are you talking about? It shows more than 160 characters for every single search result they have ever given - in fact, Google has no limits!
